The Foundations in Global Health Enrichment Elective exposes students to core topics in global health. It is designed for a diverse group of first year medical students, including those with no global health experience to those with extensive experience or dedicated interest in a global health career track.  The elective uses discussion groups, lectures, case studies, readings, and guest speakers to provide a broad overview of core global health topics, and invites students to dive deeper through their own independent study.  The faculty director, Dr. Tim Mercer, is the Chief of the Division of Global Health at Dell Medical School. He provides mentorship to interested students, engages this cohort of students into the Global Health Student Interest Group, and supports global health service, educational and research opportunities.
